Map HEMMESJÖ CHURCH. The new church in Hemmesjö is located 28.97 kilometers (18 miles) from Lunnabacken in north-northeasterly direction, 108° north latitude. On the near side of the church are some houses. It is Ingelstad’s agricultural schools.
The residents in the parishes of Hemmesjö and Tegnaby actualized the need of a larger and more spacious church. In 1839 a decision was taken to build a new church. Kunglig Majestät (Royal Majesty) decided that the two parishes would build a joint church located in the village Billa. The church was inaugurated in 1854. In south the church tower rises with its pyramidal tower roof.
